VPN discount is a Hong Kong-based VPN provider that started operating in 2006. That seems like a legit introduction to a legit VPN, and we usually try to keep our cool and be as professional and positive as we can when reviewing any VPN. However, in the case of VPN discount, this was a challenging task. Starting from the very poor website that hardly any link works into its minimal features. Even researching these features wasn’t easy, but as we said, we have to try and be as unbiased as possible, so here it goes.
VPN discount encrypts all its network traffic. Even though the level of encryption is unknown but, according to the website, a high level of encryption is used to secure all network traffic. Among the security protocols supported, are OpenVPN, L2TP, PPTP, and SSTP.
To protect its users’ online privacy, VPN discount doesn’t keep any logs. On the downside, it doesn’t have a kill switch to protect its users’ information in case of a drop in the VPN connection. An additional optional feature available is that users can subscribe to a dedicated IP, but we usually don’t advise it as it can be risky to the anonymity of the users’ online identity

Sadly, VPN discount wasn’t easy to set up, and we weren’t able to give it a good rating in user experience. The signing up and registering process was confusing due to the unorganized website.
To be honest, once we figured out how to sign up and process the payment, the steps didn’t take much time. Once the account was set up, we had to download a third party app to be able to establish the VPN connection through it as VPN discount doesn’t have its own client application.
This meant that you would have to configure the connection manually on your system. On the upside, there are detailed setup tutorials available on the website.
